Get started here

Copy the setup prompt and paste it into Cursor. It signs you up if you are new, connects Vamo with your sign-in and runs your first search.

Add it directly

Add Vamo to ~/.cursor/mcp.json in your home directory, never inside a project. Then open Cursor Settings > MCP and click Connect to sign in with Vamo.

~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "vamo": { "url": "https://mcp.vamotalent.ai/mcp/search" }
  }
}

No key to copy. You approve on a Vamo page.

Can’t sign in? Use a key

Create a key at Set up > API keys and send it in the Authorization header instead.

Authorization: Bearer YOUR_VAMO_API_KEY

A key is shown once. You pick its permissions when you create it.

Managed by your team

If your team manages Cursor, ask your admin to allow the Vamo MCP server, mcp.vamotalent.ai, for members. Rolling it out to a whole team? We set it up with you on a short call.

Try it

Ask for engineers in your own words, or start with one of these. A good answer names real developers, says what each has built, and says why they fit.

Searches to try in Cursor
Find senior engineers who contribute to ghostty
Find tokio contributors in the New York metro, strongest first
Find Datadog engineers, past or present, in the New York metro

What you get back

Every engineer comes back with the repos they own, the projects they contribute to, a contribution garden and why they fit.

Questions

Do I need an API key?
No. Sign in with your browser. A key is the fallback if sign-in is not offered.
Can Cursor call the Vamo API directly?
Yes. Give Cursor's agent a key and point it at the API reference.
The agent answers without Vamo?
Name Vamo in your ask: "Use Vamo to find..."
What plan do I need?
Pro or Enterprise, and an owner, admin or user role. A read-only member cannot connect a tool.
