What is AWS Lambda

AWS's serverless product. Small functions that run when an event fires, billed per use, with no server to manage.

In plain terms

Lambda runs a function when an event fires: a file lands in storage, a request hits an API, a timer goes off. AWS starts the code, runs it, and charges for the milliseconds used. It launched the serverless category in 2015. Teams use it for glue between services, background jobs, and APIs that get bursts of traffic.

What it tells you about a developer

Lambda experience means a developer has built event-driven cloud systems: code that wakes when something happens, runs, and stops. That work forces thinking about retries, timeouts, and cost per invocation. It is also a practical AWS depth signal, since Lambda work touches permissions, monitoring, and the AWS services wired around it.
