What is Microservices
An application split into many small services that are built and released separately, talking to each other over the network.
In plain terms
Microservices break a product into separate programs, each owned by a team and released on its own schedule. Teams stop waiting on each other, and the network between the services becomes a new source of failure. The pattern spread widely in the 2010s, and the field has since cooled on it for smaller companies, because the operational cost is real.
What it tells you about a developer
Microservices experience means the developer has worked with services that fail independently, which is distributed systems work. On a small team’s req the word sometimes describes an ambition rather than what exists today.
